Izbirni predmeti / Elective subjects

Podiplomski predmet Globalna varnost temelji na obsežni literaturi, ki se ukvarja z različnimi paradigmami in številnimi vidiki globalne varnosti. Predmet se poslužuje razširjenega in poglobljenega pristopa k varnosti ter kot tak naslavlja tako vojaške kot nevojaške vidike varnosti, ki ogrožajo posameznika in države.

Kako različne paradigme mednarodnih odnosov vidijo grožnje globalni varnosti in varnost koga je najpomembnejša? Kaj je človekova varnost (human security)? Kaj so vzroki za (meddržavne) vojne? Kakšni so pogledi na t.i. Novo svetovno ureditev (»New World Order«)? Kdo so »teroristi«? Katera so sodobna nevojaška tveganja in grožnje? Ali je mogoče doseči globalno varnost? To so ključna vprašanja, ki nas bodo zanimala skozi semester.

The postgraduate course Global Security is based on an extensive literature dealing with various paradigms and many aspects of global security. The course engages widening and deepening approach to security and as such addresses both military and non-military aspects of security that threaten the individual and the state.

How do the different paradigms of international relations (IR) see threats to global security and the security of whom is the most important? What is human security? What are the causes of (interstate) wars? What are the views on so called “The New World Order”? Who are the "terrorists"? What are the contemporary non-military risks and threats? Is it possible to achieve global security? These inquiries will occupy our attention throughout the semester.
